Eligible activities encompass a wide range of labour market activities including locally designed programs.
The following list of funded and/or non funded programs and services are provided to First Nation members through the established intake application process. These Labour Market Programs and Services may differ based on the home community of the applicant. Please contact the appropriate ISETP/FNLMS office by using the contact information provided at the bottom of this page to determine the supports available to the applicant.
Employment – Related and Career Development Assistance And Outreach
First Nation members, including youth (15 to 30) and people with disabilities (e.g. client assessment, case management, job search, job retention assistance summer jobs, work experience, and other supports, compatible with the objectives of FNLMS).
Employment Supports / Start Up
Participants with confirmed offer of full-time employment for 6 months or longer may be provided one-time assistance to begin full-time employment.
Job Creation Partnerships
To provide unemployed workers to maintain and develop skills in order to enter or re-enter the labour market and at the same time encouraging community development.
Job Opportunity / Targeted Wage Subsidy
Unemployed individuals facing employment barriers may be provided with training and work experience with qualified employers/ trainers to gain valuable knowledge and skills necessary to enter the labour force.
Mobility Assistance
Participants who have obtained full-time employment and who are relocating a minimum of 100 km may qualify for relocation assistance.
Self Employment Assistance
Self-employed may qualify for assistance while starting their business during the preliminary start up phase.
Skills Enhancement (Direct Course Purchase)
Unemployed/underemployed persons who require assistance to overcome existing or anticipated labour market barriers may qualify for training courses with qualified trainers.
Pre-Apprenticeship / Apprenticeship
First Nation members seeking training for pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship opportunities in the trades may qualify for in school and on-the-job training programs.
Youth Work Experience Program
First Nation youth between the ages of (15 -30) to gain work experience which will lead to ongoing employment.
Summer Employment Program
First Nation members returning to school in the Fall are eligible to apply for summer employment (May to August 31)
All First Nation members must fill out the necessary First Nation Intake/Application forms. All completed applications will be assessed to determine eligibility for funding.
