ISETP/ FNLMS Agreement

The North Shore Tribal Council ISETP/ FNLMS Agreement places emphasis on overall client outcomes, ultimately leading to improved skills, employment, and earnings by recognizing incremental successes and capturing the progression of clients along their skills development and employment path.

Who Can Apply?

First Nation members who are eligible to be served by the ISETP/First Nations Labour Market Strategy Agreement include:

All Five (5) First Nation Communities regardless of residency:

➢ Under Naadmaadwiiuk ISETP/ FNETS

Mississauga First Nation; Serpent River First Nation; Atikameksheng Anishnawbek

➢ Sagamok Anishnawbek ISETP/ FNETS serving members of:

Sagamok Anishnawbek

➢ Garden River First Nation ISETP/ FNETS serving members of:

Garden River First Nation

Sub Agreements

NSTC ISETP / FNLMS manages three (3) Sub Agreements for the local delivery of employment and training opportunities within their respective First Nation communities.

These three (3) Local Delivery Mechanisms (LDM) are:

➢ Naadmaadwiiuk LDM which covers the membership of:Serpent River First Nation, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Mississauga First Nation

➢ Garden River First Nation LDM covers the membership of: Garden River First Nation

➢ Sagamok Anishnawbek covers the members of: Sagamok Anishnawbek

Each Local Delivery Mechanism has the autonomy to offer labour market specific programs that will be available from their location. First Nation members who are unemployed, underemployed or require skills development may apply.

NSTC ISETP / FNLMS – LABOUR MARKET PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Employment - Related And Career Development Assistance And Outreach

First Nation members, including youth and people with disabilities (e.g. client assessment, case management, job search, job retention assistance summer jobs, work experience, and other supports, compatible with the objectives of FNLMS).

Employment Supports / Start Up

Participants with confirmed offer of full-time employment for 6 months or longer may be provided one-time assistance to begin full-time employment.

Job Creation Partnerships

To provide unemployed workers to maintain and develop skills in order to enter or re-enter the labour market and at the same time encouraging community development.

Job Ops / Targeted Wage Subsidy

Unemployed individuals facing employment barriers may be provided with training and work experience with qualified employers/ trainers to gain valuable knowledge and skills necessary to enter the labour force.

Mobility Assistance

Participants who have obtained full-time employment and who are relocating a minimum of 100 km may qualify for relocation assistance.

Self Employment Assistance

Unemployed individuals who want to start their own business and to become self-employed may qualify for assistance while starting their business during the preliminary start up phase.

Skills Enhancement And Pre-Apprenticeship / Apprenticeship

Unemployed/underemployed persons who require assistance to overcome existing or anticipated labour market barriers may qualify for training courses with qualified trainers.

Youth Work Experience Program

First Nation youth between the ages of (15 -30) to gain work experience which will lead to ongoing employment.
